Phone porting is the process of moving a phone number from the ownership of one service provider to another.
EliseAI recommends replacing your current vanity numbers with EliseAI numbers when launching VoiceAI. We include EliseAI vanity numbers in your VoiceAI package.
However, you may also port your current vanity numbers to EliseAI. You may find this helpful if:
- Your current vanity numbers are difficult to change. The numbers may be painted on the side of a building, printed on flyers, or saved on residents' phones.
- You are migrating to EliseCRM and will lose access to your current vanity numbers unless you port them to EliseAI.
- You have set your current numbers to forward traffic to EliseAI, and you want to remove the prerecorded phone disclosures for callers.
In most cases, replacing your current numbers with EliseAI vanity numbers is more efficient and cost-effective than phone porting. Please weigh your options before choosing to port your phone numbers to EliseAI.
You may port your phone numbers through an internal or external transfer, depending on your CRM. The sections below list instructions for each method.
Internal Transfer
RealPage and Knock CRM clients can port phone numbers through an internal transfer. EliseAI manages these transfers directly through Twilio.
Follow these steps to port your phone numbers to EliseAI through an internal transfer:
- Send EliseAI the following items:
- A list of vanity numbers to port
- Each number's marketing source
- Each number's assigned property
- Send EliseAI your Twilio Account SID.
- EliseAI submits a ticket to Twilio on your behalf and completes the transfer.
See Twilio's Article on Internal Transfers for more information.
External Transfer
If you use any CRM besides RealPage or Knock, you must port your phone numbers to EliseAI through an external transfer. This process requires more time and resources than an internal transfer.
Follow these steps to port your phone numbers to EliseAI through an external transfer:
- Ask your phone provider or CRM representative for a Customer Service Record (CSR). If no CSR is available, ask for a Billing Statement that lists your billing address and each phone number you wish to port.
- Fill out Twilio Letters of Authorization (LOA). Twilio accepts port requests for only one phone provider or billing address at a time. We recommend you fill out one LOA per building unless you use the same phone provider across your entire portfolio.
- NOTE: The signer of each LOA must be the same person listed on the corresponding CSR or billing statement. The name must be written legibly, and the signature date must fall within 30 days of the port request.
- Send EliseAI the following items:
- CSR or Billing Statement
- Letter(s) of Authorization
- A list that contains:
- Vanity numbers to port
- Each number's marketing source
- Each number's assigned property
