To make inbound or outbound calls in your AI Portal, your computer must:
- Have a connected microphone
- Allow browser access to the microphone
To check if your computer has a microphone connected, follow the instructions below depending on your operating system.
Windows
- Press Windows Key + I to open your computer settings, then navigate to System > Sound
- Under Input, check for a listed microphone
- Try speaking to make sure that the input level bar moves, indicating that your microphone is functioning properly
You can also right click the speaker icon in your task bar, then select Sound settings > Manage sound devices > Input devices.
macOS
- Open System Settings, then navigate to Sound > Input
- Look for a microphone (e.g., "MacBook Microphone")
- Try speaking to make sure that the input level bar moves, indicating that your microphone is functioning properly
Enabling Microphone Access in Your Browser
Once you've confirmed that your computer has a connected microphone, the next step is to enable microphone access in your browser. The steps for this process will differ depending on which browser you use.
First, navigate to your AI Portal in your browser of choice, then follow the instructions below for your browser. You'll also need to make sure that you are not browsing in Incognito or Private Mode and that your microphone is not being used by another app.
Chrome
Your browser may prompt you to allow microphone access with a popup. If this happens, click "Allow" on the popup, and you're all set!
If you are not prompted:
- Click the lock or filter icon in the address bar
- Select Site settings
- Set Microphone to Allow
- Refresh the page
Safari (Mac)
Your browser may prompt you to allow microphone access with a popup. If this happens, click "Allow" on the popup, and you're all set!
If you are not prompted:
- Navigate to Settings for This Website...
- Set Microphone to Allow
- Refresh the page
Note that Safari may block access by default if you have previously declined.
Firefox
Your browser may prompt you to allow microphone access with a popup. If this happens, click "Allow" on the popup, and you're all set!
If you are not prompted or you have previously blocked microphone access:
- Click the microphone icon in the address bar
- Click the X to clear ethe block
- Refresh the page and click Allow again
Microsoft Edge
Your browser may prompt you to allow microphone access with a popup. If this happens, click "Allow" on the popup, and you're all set!
If you are not prompted:
- Click the lock icon in the address bar
- Navigate to Permissions > Microphone and set to Allow
- Refresh the page
Still Not Working?
If the above steps did not enable microphone access for your AI Portal, try:
- Refreshing the page after changing permissions
- Making sure that no other app is using your microphone
- Restarting your browser or device
You can also try switching to Chrome or Firefox if you are not already using one of those browsers.
